Alectra Inc. recognized by Corporate Knights as one of Canada's Best 50 Corporate Citizens for 2024

Mississauga, ON – For the sixth consecutive year, Alectra has been named among the top companies in Corporate Knights’ annual sustainability ranking. This prestigious recognition, awarded annually, highlights Alectra’s commitment to corporate sustainability and leadership. 

Alectra is ranked in 8th place overall in Canada, and 1st place in its peer group of Canadian electricity transmission and distribution utilities.

The Best 50 Corporate Citizens list represents a high standard for corporate sustainability leadership in Canada. For the 2024 ranking, 340 large Canadian organizations were evaluated against both Canadian and global industry peers across a suite of 25 quantitative key performance indicators. This rigorous analysis underscores Alectra Inc.'s position at the forefront of sustainability and corporate responsibility. 

Some key achievements highlighted by Alectra in its 2023 ESG report include: 

  • GHG Emissions Reduction: Achieved a notable 16.9 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from fleet and facility operations since 2016. 
  • Grid Modernization: Committed approximately $250 million to capital projects aimed at supporting and modernizing the electricity grid. 
  • Community Investments: Invested approximately $1.56 million in community programs through the Alectra Cares Community Support Program, including $167,000 raised by employees. 
  • Fleet Electrification: Added a first all-electric bucket truck, one of the first in Ontario, further advancing its decarbonization goals. 
  • New LEED Facility: Consolidated two facilities into one by opening a new Gold LEED-certified Kennedy Road operations centre in Brampton.
