Through the AlectraCARES Community Support Program, Alectra funds local non-profit, not-for-profit and charitable organizations that support communities within our service territory. Our application and review process are guided by focus areas that help us meet the needs of present and future generations. The following focus areas ensure that our funding is directed to organizations that share our vision to build sustainable communities:
- Food security and housing security
- Mental health and access to health care
- Indigenous support and reconciliation efforts
- Vulnerable groups (seniors, children/youth, low-income households)
- Environmental conservation and animal welfare
- Scholarships, education and employment
- Celebrating cultural diversity and equal opportunities for equity groups (visible minorities, 2SLGBTQI+, newcomers, persons with disabilities, women)
Our Application Process:
Our application portal opens in July of each year to intake applications for the following year. The portal stays open between July and September. Applications are reviewed in the fall, and applicants are notified of their funding status by the end of the year.
