Markham, ON – For the second consecutive year, Alectra partnered with 10,000 Trees for the Rouge to support the organization’s community-driven tree planting event. Alectra employees gathered to plant 650 trees and shrubs, as well as 90 wildflowers, aiding in the growth and restoration of Monarch Park in Markham.

“Alectra appreciates the opportunity to support 10,000 Trees for the Rouge in their mission to foster a sustainable and greener future,” said Brian Bentz, President and CEO of Alectra. "We believe that by working together, we can make a substantial impact on our environment and inspire others to take action."

For the past 30 years, 10,000 Trees for the Rouge has conducted multiple events to plant trees and forests, while also educating the public on the importance of environmental stewardship.

Since 2020, 10,000 Trees for the Rouge has averaged 1,500 volunteers and planted over 5,000 trees and shrubs annually. In 2024, with the support of Alectra, 10,000 Trees for the Rouge has organized at least four tree planting events. This ambitious initiative will help restore approximately 2.5 hectares of land to a forest ecosystem, contributing significantly to local biodiversity and environmental health.
