Lecce Tour

Brampton, ON – Alectra welcomed Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce, to tour its state-of-the-art operations centre at 200 Kennedy Road South, Brampton. The Minister was joined by Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, Charmaine A. Williams, and Mississauga-Erin Mills MPP Sheref Sabawy. This visit highlights the government's commitment to supporting affordable and sustainable energy initiatives, along with community investment.

In October 2023, Alectra officially opened the doors to this 200,000 square-foot building. Serving as the consolidated operations centre for over 400 Alectra employees, this facility provides service excellence to customers in Mississauga and Brampton.

"We are pleased to host Minister Lecce at our new operations centre in Brampton and showcase our commitment to sustainability and innovation," said Brian Bentz, President and CEO, Alectra Inc. "This facility represents a significant investment in reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing service levels for our community."

The building is LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified to Gold Standard. It is the fifth LEED certified facility in Alectra's portfolio of buildings, in addition to the company's LEED Gold facilities in Vaughan and Markham, and its LEED certified facilities in Guelph and Barrie.

"Our government is focused on ensuring electricity is reliable and affordable for families across Ontario." said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Electrification. "The tour of Ontario's first EV truck reaffirms our commitment to electrifying the economy so that we can reduce emissions, while supporting economic growth and job creation for our workers and families".

Key features of the LEED-certified building include:

  • Upgraded dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) - reducing GHG emissions by approximately 43% beyond LEED Gold standards
  • 500KW in rooftop solar power generation - over 800 MWh/year of renewable energy will help meet building power requirements
  • Over 30 electric vehicle charging stations - to be installed and used by Alectra fleet vehicles, employees, and the general public
