At Alectra, we are committed to working in partnership with our Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) representatives to provide safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work- related injury and ill-health.

We believe that a strong safety culture is based on the Internal Responsibility System where everyone has duties and responsibilities:

• Senior management is ultimately accountable for the overall H&S performance of the organization.
• Supervisors are responsible for maintaining H&S standards in their work areas, addressing H&S concerns, and ensuring that all workers under their supervision work in compliance with legislated standards, corporate policies, procedures, work practices and rules.
• Everyone working for or on behalf of Alectra must work in compliance with legislated and Corporate H&S standards including working in a manner that does not endanger themselves or others and reporting all hazards, unsafe conditions, unsafe acts, near misses, incidents, and injuries.

To achieve our H&S objectives, Alectra has developed an H&S Management System which is dedicated to the prevention of injury and ill-health, promotes compliance with legal and other requirements and addresses the following critical system elements:

• Implement risk management based on the hierarchy of controls.
• Communicate applicable control programs to everyone working for or on behalf of Alectra through training and awareness.
• Audit compliance with the control programs.
• Implement corrective actions when non-compliance with a control program is discovered.
• Be reviewed regularly by senior management to ensure effectiveness and continual improvement.
